The Töölo series was born out of a collaboration with Ore Studios, one of our favorite Seattle interiors firms. Like many of our pieces, this story starts with a great team and a design problem. Andy Beers from Ore envisioned side tables and a credenza to match a custom Hanko Bed we would be making for a beautiful new bedroom project, and wanted something unique to complement his palette and other components in the design.
This piece, along with the Töölo Side Table, are what emerged from that process, establishing a brand new series for Chadhaus (launched in early 2018). Functionality, flexibility, simplicity, elegance - the Töölo Credenza is a storage powerhouse with a refined sensibility.
Combining flexible utility with beautiful materials, this piece is proportioned for generous storage accommodation while still achieving a lightness of feel. It features a solid wood case, four custom-veneered hinge doors with continuous grain across, and a combined cylindrical and straight steel base. Small, simple steel pulls echo the base in line and shape to forge a harmonious whole. Interior dividers create four bays that each feature adjustable/removable shelves for maximum storage flexibility.
The name of the piece is a nod to the time Chad and Emily spent in Helsinki, in the Töölo neighborhood, as the design draws inspiration from the impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail that informs so much of modern Scandinavian design.
If you're interested in using the piece as a media cabinet please let us know as we can customize cord slot locations and work with you to make sure your equipment will fit. All materials are sustainably and locally sourced from the Pacific Northwest and hand-built in Seattle, USA with love.
Pictured in the 78-inch length in whitewashed poplar with a charcoal steel base and coordinating pulls. Because we hand-build all of our furniture, each piece has the mark of a hand-made object, and unique characteristics inherent to the natural beauty and variation of real, solid wood and steel. Please note that no two trees are alike, and that the grain on the credenza varies based on the tree the boards are selected from. For more information on materials, click here.
